Designed to be a sunny, elegant yet informal family home, our clients knew exactly what they wanted for their renovation project once they engaged with LDa. Our design scheme focused on timeless architectural style based on clean, simple lines, and accents of traditional forms and detailing.
On the exterior, we transformed a previous garage into a new addition, which now houses a new mudroom, storage area in the front of the house and connects to breakfast room in the rear. To connect the new addition to the landscape, bi-fold doors flank either side of the breakfast room, for maximum indoor to outdoor living and entertaining. As an added feature for this cinema-loving family, we included a privacy shade which doubles as a pocket movie screen that can be slid across the face of the bi-fold door for outdoor movie watching.
In the kitchen, we transformed a previously cramped and inefficient layout into a gracious cooks kitchen that boasts a new island, coffee bar, custom cabinetry and a stunning quartz backsplash that leads up to a vaulted ceiling detail on either side of the stove—adding height and character to the space. A muted palette of soft white and charcoal grey are juxtaposed by bright brass finishes and pendants. Next to the kitchen, we took down a wall and created two cabinets on either side which open into the dining room, creating an open & airy concept on the first floor. The end result is a home that feels inviting and comfortably intimate for everyday family use as well as for formal entertaining.
