How We Work

A proven process tailored to each project

We seek to understand the distinctive needs of each client and provide customized services specifically tailored to their project. Our process centers around working with clients to find balance amongst the often conflicting goals inherent to design projects, within the confines of the client’s budget, timeline, and other relevant constraints. In finding this “sweet spot” through our proven process, we are able to deliver the best design solutions for our clients.

Our practice

At LDa, we believe that working with a diversity of disciplines, people, locations, styles, and scales makes us better designers.

Architecture and interior design, two disciplines, one team

Our architectural work is informed by expertise in interior design, and vice versa.

When a project’s scope includes the firm’s architecture and interior design practices, it takes advantage of an in-house collaboration and efficiency that yields fully integrated environments. Similarly, projects featuring only one discipline benefit from the shared design culture of having both practices within the office.

It’s all about the people

Our clients are at the heart of our projects.

Through our experience with a range of building typologies, we’ve had the privilege of working with diverse client types—from homeowners to cultural organizations to employers. Engaging with individuals across this variety of roles is like a master class on people—how humans live, work, play, etc.—giving us the tools to develop a deeper understanding of our clients and their priorities.

Defined by craft, inspired by place

Founded in New England, our practice has grown to serve clients across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

We design homes, institutions, and public spaces that reflect their surroundings and enrich the lives of those who inhabit them—each project shaped by context, craft, and connection. From city brownstones to oceanside retreats, our work is inspired by the varied landscapes, histories, and communities that define the regions we serve.

We have style, but not just “a style”

Our work is meant to be a reflection of who our clients are, not who we are.

It is immensely important to us that clients feel like they can approach us with any project, no matter their personal tastes. With a portfolio that spans a wide range of styles, from traditional to contemporary, we believe in bringing our clients’ unique vision to life.

Impactful design exists at every scale

No space or detail is too small for an intentional design solution.

From the smallest detail to the most complex challenge, we bring the same thoughtful enthusiasm.
