Tufts University | Bed Optimization
Somerville, MA
Responding to the need to house additional undergraduate students on their campus, Tufts asked LDa to perform an initial code analysis and feasibility study to increase the number of beds within Tufts’ existing housing portfolio. Based on those findings, and in close coordination with Tufts planning, facilities and residential life departments, construction drawings were developed to document the strategic interventions, minor renovations, and furniture upgrades required to convert large singles to doubles and large doubles to triples.
The renovations added roughly 90 new beds spread over seven residence halls in the summer of 2017. A second phase of work, in three additional residence halls, will follow in the summer of 2018.
