REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • 12-15+ years of relevant experience, especially as a Project Architect
  • Architecture license preferred
  • Design, technical experience and project leadership experience across multiple project types
  • Enthusiasm for and experience with Business Development
  • Experience leading interior design and architectural projects at all phases of development
  • Experience guiding the professional growth of others
  • LEED AP or Passive House accreditation a plus

LDa Architecture & Interiors is seeking an Interior Designer to join our collaborative team! The Interior Designer will be based in LDa’s Boston office (located in the SoWa Art + Design District) and must be able to travel to project sites as needed.

LDa Architecture & Interiors is seeking an Interior Designer to join our collaborative team! The Interior Designer will be based in LDa’s Boston office (located in the SoWa Art + Design District) and must be able to travel to project sites as needed.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working collaboratively with LDa Principals and design teams, serve as Interior Designer for projects ranging in size and type
  • Responsibilities vary for each project but may include: space planning, interior architecture, interior design, construction drawings, FF&E, and décor & styling
  • Coordinate work with vendors & contractors; track project budgets; oversee ordering and scheduling; coordinate installations
  • Oversee and mentor junior staff members; act as a design leader within the firm
  • Present to current and prospective clients
  • Support the firm’s marketing and business development efforts

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Skills

  • Excellent design skills, with an ability to design for a range of client styles, preferences and aesthetics
  • Strong skills in interior architecture / space planning
  • Strong project management abilities
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign & Photoshop in particular) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency in Revit is a plus
  • Excellent organization and attention-to-detail
  • Ability to clearly communicate design concepts to clients; strong presentation skills
  • Flexibility in handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines
  • Strong client relationship and interpersonal skills

Experience & Education

  • 3-5 years of interior design work experience
  • Experience working with closely with architects and builders
  • Knowledge of building codes and ADA requirements
  • Residential design experience required
  • Multi-family, commercial and/or institutional design strongly preferred
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in interior design, interior architecture, or a related field

Telecommuting: Telecommuting is available with three (3) days in-office presence required per week.

Travel: Travel is limited to up to four (4) days per month within the State of Massachusetts.

Job Responsibilities:

 

The Designer is responsible for assisting with and managing architectural projects, including project coordination; computer aided drafting; creating, updating and modifying technical architectural/interior drawings; and creating 3D renderings.

 

  1. Participate in ‘Project Proposal’ and ‘Request for Proposal (RFP)’ writing for a project;
  2. Participate in project budget setup and calculation process;
  3. Prepare project plan, schedule, and task list for the project;
  4. Meet with clients in person and communicate with clients via email and phone calls to manage the project and keep track of the project development and tasks;
  5. Create work plans, review draft invoices, check the budget of a project, and make decisions about the project flow and team plan accordingly;
  6. Generate design ideas that are appropriate for the project, and aesthetically pleasing and structurally feasible. Generate drawings and gather related images to convey the design ideas. Review these with the principal architect in charge and make necessary changes to present to the client;
  7. Work with a team of consultants (including interior designers, structural engineers, civil engineers, heating ventilation and cooling personnel, and lighting consultants) and lead a team for the design and construction of the project;
  8. Work with builders during the Construction Administration (CA) process and provide solutions in the form of documents of products (Specifications) or drawings (Architectural Sketches-ASK);
  9. Lead a design team and distribute the tasks to the in-house team, meet with them, and provide and corrections;
  10. Create a 3D representation of the project using REVIT and Lumion;
  11. Produce high-quality sets of construction documents for accurate pricing and construction; and
  12. Visit construction sites to follow work progress and scrutinize construction quality.

 

 

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

 

Employer requires a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and three (3) years of work experience in architectural project management.  In addition, the employer requires the following:

 

  1. Demonstrated knowledge of REVIT gained through at least one (1) year of work experience;
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of Computer-Aided Design & Drafting gained through at least one (1) year of work experience; and
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of building construction gained through at least one (1) year of work experience.

 

All years of experience may be gained concurrently.
