As the heart of the home, kitchens need to be a place that comforts and enlivens, as well as function for the way we live. For the owners of this condo, the existing kitchen was frustrating to use, outdated and ready for change. The new layout opens the kitchen to the dining room and living room beyond, and connects to the rear stair and deck, creating a more logical path of travel and clear views. New cabinetry brings in much needed storage and a smarter layout for prep and cooking. Open shelving on the outside wall, and a simple color palette keeps the room open and airy, disguising it’s relatively small footprint. Patterned tile over the stove, modern lighting and a herringbone tile backsplash add personality.
