Grey Oaks
Grey Oaks
Lexington, MA
Happy with their neighborhood and close location to downtown Lexington, but lacking the space that the homeowners needed for their growing family, our clients made the decision to tear down their existing house and rebuild a new home in its place.
Attracted to the simplicity and craft of the shingle-style aesthetic, the owners asked LDa to design a home that would be an appropriate interpretation, blending functionality and artistry. The house consists of a first floor kitchen and pantry, family room, living room, study, mudroom, office, and screened porch. The second floor has the master suite, laundry room, and additional bedrooms. An attached three-car garage and stone patio complete the composition. To make the most of their environment, the home was envisioned to be more open and glassy on the façade facing the surrounding conservation land with areas of continuous windows providing the sensation that the outdoor and indoor spaces are continuous.
The interiors were designed with traditional details – simple yet substantial moldings and trim, coffered ceilings, and cabinetry – balanced with contemporary wallpapers, finishes and sophisticated furnishings.
