DCR Northpoint Maintenance Facility
DCR Northpoint Maintenance Facility
Boston, MA
Following a feasibility study to review potential options, LDa was awarded the design contact for the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR)’s new maintenance facility. Located at a site on North Point Boulevard in East Cambridge, it will replace temporary modular facilities currently in use.
Located on an approximately 4.37 acre parcel adjacent to the MBTA commuter rail tracks and below the I-93 ramps, the new Maintenance Building will be a pre-engineered steel frame structure that will house a garage, wash bay, maintenance bay, storage, support functions, and DCR on-site staff offices. The scope also includes a Department of Corrections (DOC) suite for community service and an additional bay for smaller vehicle spaces and special events storage. The will yard will include a salt shed, debris bins, fuel station, and 95 passenger vehicle parking spaces. The design of the new facility is energy efficient, technologically state-of-the-art, universally accessible and emphasizes the use of low-maintenance, durable materials.
