Cosmopolitan Condominium

Updating an inherited property can be a challenge, balancing fond memories with making the home one’s own. Our client was up to the challenge and eager to personalize the space and add modern amenities, while respecting his family history and the elegance of the pre-war high-rise. Located on the sixth floor with sunny Back Bay views of the First Baptist Church of Boston, the condo had an open, easy layout, but was in need of new finishes and furnishings. The floor plan was essentially preserved, with the exception of the conversion of a small maid’s room into a new powder room and laundry area and the removal of a wall separating the living and dining areas. A sleek modern kitchen replaced the outdated one, and new wallpaper, paint, built-in storage and bathroom upgrades complete the project.
An avid collector and patron of the arts, our client and the design team collaborated to build the interiors concept around the owner’s fearless incorporation of modern, vintage, traditional and collected pieces. Colors are bold takes on traditional motifs, tempered with softer touches. Patterned rugs and soft goods are complemented by touches of whimsy and collected art from around the world, making for a truly unique and personalized space.
