This Old House Newton
Newton, MA
LDa was asked to design a renovation and addition to this 1897 shingle-style home in Newton, MA. The project included the demolition of the existing galley kitchen to create an eat-in kitchen which is now connected to a new family room. An existing library was transformed into a new mudroom, a new porch was added in the rear, and an existing sleeping porch on the second floor was renovated into a new master suite. In addition, numerous finishes and detail were updated throughout the home, as well as updated mechanical systems.
This home was featured as the Newton Shingle-Style House Project during the fall 2007 television season on This Old House. LDa was thrilled to be a part of this unique experience. The filming deadlines created an accelerated construction schedule, and the opportunity to work closely with the nationally recognized construction crew was a unique experience for all involved.
