Moving from California, this young, family of four purchased a newly constructed home in a quaint Hingham neighborhood with lots of potential. LDa was brought on board to transform the interiors from a blank slate into a modern and expressive home that is gracious and inviting for a house full of family and guests.
All new paint colors, wall coverings and material choices were made based on a sophisticated palette of cool colors, multi-toned whites and splashes of purple, navy and charcoal. Subtle changes were made to the original floor plan, modernizing it by relocating the existing dining room from the entry foyer and replacing it with a soft seating arrangement, creating a casual welcoming area. LDa designed custom beds for the children with storage/desk units, as well as a new master suite and decorative fireplace wall.
Interior materials and furnishings that were selected to keep with the clients’ lifestyle, taste and budget while withstanding every day wear from children, pets and entertaining. The fabrics are grounded in traditional, muted colors, while changes in texture and hints of bold colors create a more contemporary feel overall. Integrating selected existing furniture pieces into the home balanced with well-considered new furnishings helped to infuse a sense of history and family into the house, easing the transition from the west coast.
