This contemporary new build was designed to connect with the surrounding landscape and provide a young couple with their forever home. With its minimalist style and a simple palette enriched by jewel tones and natural materials, the home has a distinctly urban feel despite its suburban location. 
 
With five bedrooms, two offices, an exercise room, and multiple living spaces, this energy-efficient home has plenty of room for rest, work, and play, but its pièce de resistance is its six-car, showroom-style garage inspired by the homeowner’s passion for all things automotive. A focal point of the basement design, the garage is visible from all lower-level spaces thanks to glass walls and features a 30-foot glass door, polished terrazzo floors (with a closed drainage system to allow for car washing), a luminous ceiling, and a custom/built-in service and maintenance station. An adjacent workroom with workbenches, tools, and wheel storage completes this car aficionado’s haven. The automotive theme is carried into the adjacent spaces, where the bar and homeowner’s desk are sculptural pieces made of carbon fiber. 
 
On the main living level, a double-height, double-sided fireplace clad in a herringbone cork and metallic paper gives definition to the open floorplan, separating a formal sitting area across from the foyer from the more casual area around the tv. Large double height windows overlooking the back deck, yard, and pool create a strong connection to the outdoors, and throughout the space, the walls’ shiplap effect is achieved with wallboard and plaster—a subtle detail with a big impact. In the kitchen, the marble sourced for the countertops and backsplash was positioned to create a diamond pattern that folds up the wall. 
 
A steel mono-frame stair with cantilevered oak treads leads to the second floor and the primary suite, where a custom designed bed wall with built in nightstands and an upholstered headboard exude warmth and sophistication. In the primary bath, a floating angled wall allows the large shower to be contained but still open, and rich blue marble accents add depth to the predominately white space. In two beautiful yet contrasting walk-in-closets, each homeowner’s individual style takes center stage—a juxtaposition of bright and glamorous against dark and moody.
