Dark, cramped and stuck in the Eighties, the new owners of this 9th floor condo in Boston’s historic North End neighborhood started planning renovations right away. LDa was brought in to improve functionality, create a sensible open-plan layout and create a the kind of sophisticated, urban home the clients were looking for.
Layout changes included the expansion of the living room through the removal of a guest bedroom and bath, a new kitchen layout with additional storage, and a more open central entry and hall space. The two remaining bathrooms were renovated along with a new master closet and clever built-is in the study allow it to perform double duty as a guest space. The existing conservatory was removed and rebuilt in place, bringing in daylight and connecting the two outdoor patio areas. All new cabinetry, finishes and furniture were selected to showcase the owner’s significant art collection and modern tastes.
