Rather than sitting atop the steeply sloped site, the home is carefully woven into it, allowing the residence to perch like a cliff dwelling while embracing the natural topography.
A winding driveway passes through woodland, exposed ledge, and pollinator-friendly meadows before revealing the home among flowering trees. Inside, a double-height foyer, floating walnut staircase, and sculptural lighting installation create a memorable first impression.
A splayed floor plan follows the land’s contours, maximizing sunlight, capturing changing views of the surrounding forest and golf course, and preserving privacy from neighboring properties.
Flat roofs echo the rocky ledges found across the site, while cantilevered living spaces project over the hillside like natural outcroppings. Stained cedar, black metal panels, and Pangaea stone reinforce the home’s connection to the landscape.
Expansive walls of glass dissolve the boundary between indoors and out. A walnut-lined butterfly roof unifies the kitchen, dining, and living spaces, while a three-sided cantilevered fireplace anchors the open floor plan.
Layered, seasonally changing plantings connect the architecture to its setting, from shaded woodland gardens to the vibrant pool terrace. Together, the landscape and architecture create a home designed for gathering, relaxation, and year-round immersion in nature.
