The Harvard Club exterior dusk hero

The Harvard Club

Boston, MA

As part of a larger renovation effort alongside its neighbor at 380 Commonwealth Avenue, LDa designed a new rear entrance pavilion for the Harvard Club on Newbury Street. The design bridges the scale and character of the adjacent townhome with the grandeur of Harvard Hall.

Welcoming and accessible

The new entrance creates a welcoming and fully accessible entry for both guests and staff. Using a blend of masonry, glazed curtain wall, and standing seam copper, the pavilion bridges traditional and contemporary elements. A new elevator was introduced, improving vertical circulation and accessibility throughout the building.

Program enhancements

In addition to the pavilion, the basement level was reconfigured and renovated to house the Harvard Club’s administrative offices. The updated layout provides staff with modern, efficient workspaces that support daily operations while maintaining the building’s historic integrity.

Elegance without excess

Delivering a sense of luxury within a moderate budget was a key challenge. LDa achieved this balance by combining custom furnishings with carefully selected retail pieces and pairing them with durable, textured wall coverings. This approach resulted in refined interiors that express both elegance and practicality.
