Weston Jesuit Community Housing

Brighton, MA

LDa designed a new residential community for 72 priests and brothers on five acres of land along the eastern edge of the Boston College campus, prompted by the Weston Jesuit School of Theology merging with Boston College to form the new Boston College School for Theology & Ministry.

Defining a community

The project consists of a complex of five new buildings, totaling approximately 50,000 square feet. Four of the buildings house the Jesuits and guests (the “Houses”), while the fifth building serves as a common gathering space for group dining, worship, and administrative functions.

Framing a place for communal gathering

The Houses are clustered around a central gathering lawn, with the community chapel gently turned to face the residential buildings. The scale of the buildings modulates between adjacent residential, institutional, and multifamily neighbors.
