Harvard University Office Renovation
Harvard University Office Renovation
Cambridge, MA
LDa was hired by Harvard to study the re-allocation of space in the Barker Center and its Annex, the Warren House, a small historic home converted to offices adjacent to the main building. At the end of that process, it was determined that the program on Women, Gender, and Sexuality would be moved to a new location. This move would help consolidate the program’s spaces, and also freed space for other departments within the Barker Center.
Following completion of the study, we were retained to renovate an under-utilized space in the lower level of historic Boylston Hall in Harvard Yard for the newly relocated WGS offices. A new color scheme was chosen along with new furniture, fabrics and other furnishings, new lighting and casework for the mail room. A central casual meeting area is located in the center of the space, surrounded by private offices, a private conference room, ancillary spaces and storage. Signage for the department directory and other spaces was also included in the project scope.
