This project was a renovation and addition to a stately center entrance colonial that had fallen into disrepair by the previous owners. The client’s program required bedrooms for their 4 children, a mudroom, enlarged kitchen, home office, revamped bathrooms, and a new shared bathroom on the third level. The kitchen design required a lot of attention from LDa as the family keeps Kosher and also wanted the kitchen to be connected to the main activity areas of the home.
The addition of bedrooms to the former attic space required the creation of a new stair and tower, which gave LDa the opportunity to insert a very modern, nearly free floating, metal and wood stair that counterpoints some of the more traditional detailing of the existing rooms. The landscape and pool area was extensively reworked creating a cozy environment whether inside or out.
