LDa Update: What We've Been Up To

October was a busy month for us LDa-ers. From boxing to biking, there was no shortage of activities to partake in around the office. We had a fantastic time cheering our staff on from the sidelines and raising money for some great causes. If you're curious as to what exactly we got up to, read down below!

Haymakers For Hope

For the second year in a row, Hannah Osthoff, one of our Architectural Designers at LDa, decided to participate in the Haymakers For Hope "Belles of the Brawl" boxing event at the House of Blues. Haymakers For Hope is great organization literally "fights for a cure" against cancer. All the money raised goes towards cancer research and raising awareness. This year they raised $450,000 and had over 1,700 supporters attend! If you want to learn more about Haymakers For Hope, click here.

Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride

LDa-er's Peter Makrauer and Ricardo Bilonick rode 100 miles around Buzzards Bay, from Little Compton, RI to Woods Hole, MA to raise funds for The Buzzards Bay Coalition. The Coalition is the region’s grassroots leader in public education, water monitoring, watershed restoration, and advocacy for the Bay. If you're curious as to what a 100 mile bike route looks like, take a look at Ricardo's ride here. It was a beautiful day to be out riding and the LDa cheering section turned out to be pretty big! If you're interesting in donating, you can do so here.

OACBoston 10th Annual 5K Run

And last but not least, most of our firm dusted off their running shoes and came out to participate in the Open Architecture Collaborative Boston 5K Run. The race raises funds for OACB’s projects in and around Boston and this year they intend to send the money to the OAC chapter in Houston, TX, to help with their projects after the recent flooding. If you're curious what Open Architecture Collaborative is about, the organization is "a global learning network mobilizing architects and designers with technical skills to build capacity with communities experiencing systemic marginalization."

All in all, it was an eventful month for us at LDa! Stay tuned for what we get up to next.
